The idea of portraying reflections is suggested by the very biology of human vision and by the art of photography: both are constructed of complex mirrors, converting light signals into colours, into shapes, and finally even into ideas. Memory, too, like the rippled surface of a pond or the warped pane of a gothic window, is an exercise in perception with the added layer of time. And so these images, captured around town without further tampering, are a meditation on perception, memory, and emotion. The half-familiar, half-distorted shapes, the interplay of shadow and light, the colours intensified within water and in the depth of semi-opaque windows, all confront one with familiar yet startling images, depicting reality at an unexpected angle.
